The University of Milan allocates €300,000 for the international mobility of European students

The University of Milan will offer 30 scholarships worth €10,000 each to international students from the European Union who will have completed a bachelor’s degree by 31 July and wish to enrol on a master’s degree programme at the University of Milan for the 2026–2027 academic year.

The scholarships will include full exemption from tuition fees, 30 free places in shared twin rooms within university halls of residence, and participation in the "UniMi Ambassadors" programme, which selects outstanding students to represent the University of Milan on various occasions, such as campus tours for international students and webinars. Applications must be submitted between 5 May and 15 June 2026.

A special committee will select students on the basis of academic merit and their CV, taking into account criteria such as the weighted average of exam marks, international language certificates, and participation in European research, study or innovation projects, as well as a motivation letter in which applicants must highlight their qualities and skills and explain how they intend to contribute to the "European Education Area" in Milan.

"For the University of Milan, internationalisation is a structural policy that integrates high-quality teaching and research, inclusion and international cooperation, with a particular focus on the European dimension. The European Futures Scholarships form part of this framework, building on the University’s already established presence in Europe through the 4EU+ Alliance programmes (an agreement between various universities committed to long-term cooperation), double degrees and numerous bilateral academic collaborations, with the aim of fostering the development of a more cohesive and competitive Europe capable of tackling global challenges, while also strengthening the University’s international role," commented Paola Catenaccio, Vice Rector for Internationalisation.

To support this commitment, the university has recently set up the International Student Hub, a space dedicated to welcoming and supporting international students.

"The new funding for international scholarships represents a strategic investment that tangibly strengthens our university’s global outlook. Attracting students from all over the world means enriching the quality of our teaching and research environment, while promoting intercultural dialogue and the exchange of knowledge," concluded Rector Marina Brambilla.
