La Statale per l'AI – Science and Knowledge in Late Imperial China

In this keynote, Catherine Jami (French National Centre for Scientific Research) challenges Eurocentric comparative models in the history of science. Drawing on decades of research on mathematics and science in late imperial China, the talk highlights how reframing research questions allows historians to recognize distinct scientific traditions and trajectories. Through selected examples, it shows how this perspective reveals “other cultures of science” and supports a more pluralistic understanding of scientific knowledge.
