A message from the new Rector, Marina Brambilla

On my first day as Rector of our University, I would like to send my greetings to all of you, and to thank you once again for trusting me with this role.

Over the past months since my election, I have continued to talk and exchange views with many of you, starting to identify the first steps to implement the programme that we wrote together for a new University of Milan, capable of combining history, tradition and quality of research with innovation, modernity and experimentation. 

I won't be alone in this endeavour: you will all be with me, along with a team of colleagues selected for their professional and personal qualities, plus the Academic Senate and the Board of Directors in their renewed composition, whose members will be able to represent all the voices within our community.

I firmly believe that only a collaborative and close-knit community can bring real value to our University, allowing it to play its fundamental role as a driver of development for our region and our country. This belief will be at the core of my work as Rector.

We are a large multidisciplinary University: we will be a large and multi-faceted community, rich in diversity, keen to listen and open to dialogue. This is our strength, this is the foundation on which we will build our future.

If we want the next six years to be marked by growth and success, all of our actions will have to be driven by a strong willingness to build something together, to strike a balance and find common ground. Despite the present and future challenges that naturally come with managing a complex organisation, I hope that every day we can renew our mutual commitment to keep rowing in the same direction.

We will look towards our future without forgetting our roots, drawing on a long experience which culminated in our recent 100th Anniversary, and fully convinced that success is always the result of a shared effort.

Today marks the beginning of our years together, and together we will work to enhance and value the contribution that each of us, in our own way, can make for our University, to help it grow and thrive.
