“The role of universities in women’s empowerment”: that is the title of the conference organised for 4 October by the University of Milan, together with the Alumni Unimi Paris association. The event will take place at the Italian Embassy in Paris and is one of the many initiatives planned by the University to celebrate its 100th anniversary

A second meeting will be organised in Milan during the spring of 2024. The two events aim to spark a dialogue and a debate on the role of Universities in supporting women’s empowerment and gender balance. The focus will be on women’s contribution to the advancement of knowledge, as well as on the role played by the University of Milan in facilitating a process of growth and awareness-building, also in an international scenario, with an emphasis on bilateral relations between Italy and France.

The meeting on 4 October will start at 5.30 pm with the opening remarks of the Italian Ambassador in Paris, Emanuela d’Alessandro, and Rector Elio Franzini. They will be followed by Sabine Bottin Rousseau (Sorbonne University) and Emmanuelle Chevreau (Panthéon-Assas University), whose renowned Parisian universities are partners of the University of Milan within the 4EU+ Alliance.  Other participants include professors from our university, representatives of French institutions and graduates of the University of Milan who are currently working in France in a wide range of settings: academia, public and private companies, international organisations. The event is designed to foster exchanges, with the ultimate goal of strengthening the presence of the Alumni network of the University of Milan in France.
