On 16 October, the University of Milan inaugurates the academic year 2023-2024 and celebrates the first stone of its future science campus in the Milano Innovation District (MIND).

The inauguration of the new academic year will start at 11 am in the Auditorium of Palazzo Italia, viale Rita Levi Montalcini 1, right after the laying of the first stone. Representatives of municipal, regional and national institutions will be present for the occasion.

The ceremony will then proceed with the institutional greetings by the Undersecretary to the Presidency of the Council of Ministers for the coordination of economic policy and public investment planning Alessandro Morelli, Alessandro Fermi, the Lombardy’s Regional Councillor for University, Research and Innovation, and Milan’s Mayor Giuseppe Sala.

After that, Rector Elio Franzini will present his report, followed by the speeches of Elia Montani, President of the Student Council of the University of Milan, and Carlo Ratti, director of MIT Senseable City Laboratory and creator of the MIND Campus design. To close the ceremony, the string quartet of the University’s Orchestra will perform the Gaudeamus Igitur
